It doesn't make sense to tell your readers the world is going to end in the next two weeks. If you get it wrong, too many of them are going to remember you got it wrong. So the Sun, which has predicted several disasters in 2010, lets us know things are gonna be just fine for the rest of the year but NEXT YEAR... the dirty stuff will definitely be hitting the fan.
The Sun promised specific dates inside, but longtime readers of this blog will know that just isn't good enough. Even so, they did say "2011" on the cover, so that's specific enough to be checked. Also, they said NASA has detected deadly asteroids heading towards Earth.
In the real world, NASA's budget is getting sliced and diced, but in the Sun and the Weekly World News this year, those eggheads have been full of useful fun facts and exciting crazy schemes.
