He Fought The Law Alert™: John Edwards' nailed by dead wife's video testimony

Publication: National Enquirer
Date: 20 June 2011

The Enquirer has been the source on every story but one since the beginning of 2010 about John Edwards, and even that story was more about Elizabeth than it was about him. Now there's a fresh story that her video testimony will be damning in a court of law.

I don't know anything more about legal matters than what I watch on TV, but doesn't the defense have a right to cross-examine any witness? It will be interesting to see if any evidence like this actually sees the light of day.

On the rocks alert: John Edwards dumped by mistress!

Publication: National Enquirer
Date: 13 June 2011

Now that legitimate news sources are paying attention to the John Edwards situation, the Enquirer, the publication that pushed this story the hardest, is trying to stay ahead of the curve. They say Rielle Hunter has dumped his butt and will testify against him.

Couldn't happen to a more deserving guy, but she's not likely to have all the details on the money trail, and that's the part of the story that will decide the case.

Breaking news: John Edwards indicted.

Publication: Washington Post
Date: 3 June 2011

Last week, a source told the Associated Press the indictment of John Edwards for misusing campaign funds to pay off his mistress and her love child could come "within days". Nine days later, the indictment has come down. Edwards, like any normal citizen and especially like any former trial lawyer, has already said he will plead not guilty.

Fourteen months ago, the Enquirer said he was going to jail and Fox News picked up the story. Neither of them get a "confirmed" just yet.

Breaking news: Associated Press reports John Edwards could be indicted.

Publication: Associated Press
Date: 25 May 2011

The Associated Press reports that the Justice Department may be finally getting around to indicting John Edwards on the charge that he used campaign money to hush up the paternity of his love child. They said the indictment could be coming down "within days".

Recall that the National Enquirer said he would be going to jail fifteen months ago. There is some difference between an indictment and a jail sentence and Edwards' lawyer is not going down without a fight.

More on this story as it develops.

Don't try suicide: John Edwards suicidal as lawyer gives him bad news.

Publication: National Enquirer
Date: 18 April 2011

John Edwards is almost the exclusive property of the National Enquirer. There has been one story about his late wife Elizabeth in People which mentioned him as a minor character, but every other story is in The Flagship and all of them are negative.

Which is no more than he deserves.

Even so, I made a promise to keep track of every time a supermarket rag marked someone for death, and finally realized that when they say someone is suicidal, this is the absolute weakest death warning around. As such, I have started a new label called "Don't try suicide" and I went back over the past death warnings and added this label to the ones that mentioned suicide.

When one of the tabloid vultures says "xxx dying!", they have a 100% probability of being right eventually. But when they say "zzz suicidal!", the chance that they are correct is much closer to 0%. Still, John Edwards goes on the death watch list, though I expect he's going to be staying on this side of the lawn for the foreseeable future.

He Fought The Law Alert™: Deathbed video sending John Edwards to jail!

Publication: National Enquirer
Date: 21 February 2011

The Enquirer loves to ruin people's lives, if possible. There isn't a consistent partisan slant to it. They went after Rush Limbaugh and he had to admit he was a drug addict, though the Enquirer said he would go to jail, which didn't happen. They went after Al Gore as a harrasser of a massage therapist and that story went nowhere. Their biggest success of the past decade was when they nailed John Edwards as a wayward husband and the father of a love child. Not happy with that, they keep playing the story that he is going to jail.

Their latest attempt to send John Edwards to the Big House is because of something incriminating he allegedly said at his wife Elizabeth's death bed. This is the third time the Enquirer was sure that Edwards would be sent to jail. The first time was eleven months ago when they were sure a grand jury indictment was around the corner, and then again in late April, when there was an alleged cover-up of a DUI.

Here's what we know for sure. The Flagship hates John Edwards so much, he's almost an honorary Scientologist.

Love Bird Alert™:John Edwards proposes to Rielle Hunter

Publication: National Enquirer
Date: 17 January 2011

The Flagship uses most of the front cover to tell us John Edwards has proposed to Rielle Hunter, not one month after his wife died. The sub-headlines say he defied Elizabeth's last wish and Rielle want his young children to "call me Mommy".

The story has been denied by all parties. Stay classy, Enquirer.
