Meanest Story nominee: Liz Taylor's bitter deathbed battle

Publication: Globe
Date: 7 March 2011

There have been so many stories in the tabloids these past few months about Liz Taylor dying, I get the whole Boy Who Cried Wolf vibe off of all of them. This week once again the Globe puts one on the cover and I give it a Meanest Story nomination. The new detail is that there is some drama about where Miss Taylor will be buried. She wants to be buried next to Richard Burton but his still living widow has other ideas.

This is yet again a reminder of the era when Liz and Dick were THE celebrities and everybody else was at the back of the line.

Kick a couple corpses, why don'tcha?Eddie Fisher held a gun to Liz's head when Burton stole her away.

Publication: National Examiner
Date: 18 October 2010

Fresh trash on Thursdays! The low rent Examiner says Eddie Fisher held a gun to Liz Taylor's head when she dumped him for Richard Burton. Of course, Fisher and Burton are unavailable for comment, being dead and all, and I'm not sure Miss Taylor or her spokespeople will bother with denying or confirming the story.

Kick a corpse, why don'tcha? Why Richard Burton's ghost made Liz cry!

Publication: Sun
Date: 14 June 2010

The Sun does celebrity gossip once every blue moon, and this week is one of those times. The story has actually been reported by legitimate news sources, where Elizabeth Taylor found some old love letters from Richard Burton and she got all misty eyed thinking about her gorgeous Welsh drunk.

For my money, they are the best celebrity couple of my lifetime, since I came along about thirty years after the heyday of Douglas Fairbanks and Mary Pickford.
